The EU issued a document in 2006 to explicitly ban the use of NPE and nonylphenol (NP) in the textile industry. The Swedish chemical administration also plans to submit a ban on NPE to the European Chemicals authority before August this year.

However, the NPE content of domestic products has not yet been restricted.
Shandong Province, as a major textile export province, has 5388 batches of textiles exported from Yantai port, worth 143 million US dollars, and 1/5 of them are exported to the European Union.

The sale of textiles containing NPE is bound to have a certain impact on the textile enterprises in our city, and many textile enterprises are worried about it.
The Yantai inspection and Quarantine Bureau said that it will actively carry out laboratory tests for related projects, and at the same time, guide textile production enterprises to strengthen control over the source of raw materials, adopt clean production technology, replace NPE with eco-friendly surfactants, and abandon the way of washing textile products, so as to prevent pollution to the environment.
