Guangzhou city commerce and Industry Bureau announced 27 children in circulation area.

The monitoring results showed that 37 of the 100 samples were disqualified, of which 2 were detected with formaldehyde content exceeding the standard.

The Guangzhou industrial and commercial bureau has covered twelve districts (counties) of the city, and has sampled 23 distribution enterprises, such as shopping malls, supermarkets, specialized markets and self-employed stores, which sell 100 kinds of clothing for children and infants, involving 88 production enterprises.

Mainly in T-shirts, knitwear, dress, casual pants and other summer clothing.

After inspection, 100 kinds of samples, 63 qualified products, 37 unqualified, 37% unqualified rate, excluding pure identification of unqualified goods 7 kinds, the quality of goods failed rate was 30%, down 3.7% compared with last year.

In this quality monitoring, important safety items can be decomposed, and carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes have not failed. However, there are 2 kinds of commercial formaldehyde content exceeding the standard, accounting for 3.6% of the total number of unqualified items; the pH value of the 8 commodities exceeds the standard, accounting for 14.5% of the total number of unqualified items; 20 kinds of commercial fiber components content is not consistent with the nominal content; the color fastness and sewing strength are 5 and 2 kinds of goods are not qualified; 18 kinds of commodity labels do not meet the standard requirements.

Guangzhou city commerce and Industry Bureau said that excessive formaldehyde in clothing will cause strong irritation to children's respiratory tract and skin and mucous membranes, causing respiratory injury and triggering various kinds of inflammation.

Skin contact with formaldehyde has sensitization, rash and other reactions.

The toxicity to infants is manifested by asthma, tracheitis, chromosomal abnormality, and decreased resistance.

The main reason for such problems is the use of low cost formaldehyde finishing agents or auxiliaries in the finishing process of fabrics, finished products or semi finished products.

The monitoring also found that the pH value of 8 commodities exceeded the standard. The pH value of clothing products was too high or too low, which could destroy the pH balance of human skin, cause skin allergy or infection, and make the skin vulnerable to other pathogens.

The children and infants clothing with unqualified pH values are all alkaline. The reason for the failure of the project is that the manufacturers have not fully neutralized or washed the products in the production process.

The Guangzhou Municipal Industry and Commerce Bureau punishes the operators who sell the unqualified goods, and supervises them to do the work of returning or replacing the unqualified goods, and undertakes the inspection of the same brand and the same type of commodities in the whole city under the spot check, until the production enterprise has completed the rectification and has passed the quality test to sell the shelves.
