On September 7, the Asia Europe Clothing Industry Cooperation Forum, one of the highlights of the first Asia Europe Silk Road Clothing Festival, was held in Hongfu Hotel.

More than 50 government agencies, chambers of commerce and enterprise representatives from nearly 10 countries and regions, including Turkey, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, discussed with more than 200 professionals from inside and outside the region the exchanges and cooperation between China and Central Asia in the development of the garment industry.

Liu Yanning, director of the Xinjiang Textile Industry Management Office, said that according to the strategic layout of the autonomous region's textile industry in the "12th Five Year Plan", Urumqi will build an international textile and clothing trade center that integrates clothing processing, import and export transactions, warehousing and logistics, e-commerce and public services.

The center will take the key textile and clothing enterprises as the leader, take the border international trade as the link, give full play to the transportation advantages of the airport and the new Eurasian Continental Bridge, and improve the agglomeration effect, radiation driving effect and overall development level of the clothing industry development.

The reporter learned that in 2011 Textile clothing Exports reached 7.28 billion dollars, including 5.41 billion dollars for clothing. With exports and local market consumption, the clothing market has a capacity of more than 50 billion yuan. However, in sharp contrast, the export of Xinjiang garment enterprises accounts for only 1%, and the proportion of Xinjiang local garment enterprises in Xinjiang's domestic market is less than 10%.

"There are resources but insufficient utilization, there are industrial advantages but the industrial chain is missing, there is cultural foundation but the fashion completion is not enough, there is market access but the brand influence is scattered." Sun Huaibin, director researcher of China Textile Economy Research Center, commented on Xinjiang's clothing industry. He said that the improvement of the clothing industry chain in the future will become a breakthrough and catalyst for the strong development of Xinjiang's clothing industry.

During the "12th Five Year Plan" period, our region will gradually form a clothing industry chain, expand and strengthen the clothing industry in Xinjiang, and strive to achieve the goal of more than 30 billion yuan of sales revenue of the clothing industry in the autonomous region, 160 billion yuan of total clothing trade, and 500000 jobs by 2020.
