At the 2012 national cotton situation analysis conference held by the China Cotton Association, Jiang Fan, director of the foreign trade division of the Ministry of Commerce, analyzed the export of textiles and garments in China.

The number dropped sharply, and exported only about 130000000000 in 1-7 months, down 0.2% from the same period last year. The drop in July was 8%.

There are four characteristics of textile and clothing export this year: first, the volume reduction; the two is the sharp decline in processing trade; three, the decline in the export of cotton products is large, and the varieties are all reduced by 7-8%; four, the major export provinces are declining, with a drop of 1-5%.

There are two main reasons for the decline in exports: the first is that the economic crisis has led to a decline in demand in the international market, of which the major developed countries have dropped by 5%, of which the European Union has dropped by 12% and the United States has dropped 5%; two is the decline in competitiveness of enterprises, mainly due to the rise in labor costs and the difference in cotton prices between the inside and outside, leading to the decline of the main western countries' imports from China, and the increase in the number of imports from Southeast Asia. At present, some enterprises have considered moving the factory to Southeast Asian countries.


Jiang Fan believes that despite the grim situation, there are still some positive messages.

In September 12th, the State Council promulgated eight policies to promote the steady growth of foreign trade, including the provision of financial support for the pformation and upgrading of textile enterprises, and other favorable policies for the textile industry.

At the same time, textile enterprises should also enhance their ability to create brands and marketing through their own efforts to ease the current difficulties.
