Russia Announces WTO Entry Tariff Reduction Rules For Textiles And Garments
Reporters from the Ministry of Commerce, international trade and Economic Cooperation Research Institute, the European research department recently learned that the Russian government recently announced the accession to the WTO.

The import tariff rate related to textiles and clothing is down from the date of accession to the year of performance and commitment.
The products involved include textile raw materials, silk, wool, industrial textiles, pure cotton suits, home textiles and other products.
According to the rules of tariff concession, the performance commitments for the reduction of import tariffs for all kinds of textiles and garments will end from 2013 to 2017, but most of the products will fall to the final import tariff bound rate until 2015.
It is worth noting that the import duties of over 30 kinds of products are reduced from ad valorem tax and volume tax to a single ad valorem tax.
According to the product category, the import tax of cotton textile and clothing will be larger. For example, the import duty of cotton trousers and ladies' cotton suits will be reduced to 20% yuan per day from the entry tax on the day of entry into the WTO, and the compound tax on duty from 2.5 to 2.2 euros per kilogram will be reduced to a single duty rate of 2.2 euros per kilogram. The pure cotton women's and children's sport suits will be reduced from 20% ad valorem tax on the day of entry into the WTO to a single tax from 1.75 yuan per kilogram.

The import tariff will be reduced to 6% from the ad valorem duty of 15% on the day of accession to the WTO.
According to Liu Huaqin, deputy director of the European Research Department of the international trade and Economic Cooperation Research Institute of Ministry of Commerce, the Russian government will make minor adjustments to import tariffs on products every year on the basis of Russia's commitment to WTO, but when Russia finally fulfills its promise to terminate the year, the Russian side will complete its final commitment to reduce taxes.
