Spain

According to the Spanish development newspaper recently reported that the country's economic downturn has hit the shoemaking industry.

On the one hand, consumption in the Spanish domestic market has declined, and on the other hand, the number of shoes imported from Asian countries has been increasing.

Rafael Calvo, President of the Spanish footwear Federation, pointed out that the Spanish footwear industry started well in 2008 and maintained steady growth in emerging markets such as Eastern Europe, but it is hard to predict how the shoe industry will develop throughout the year.

According to Spanish customs statistics, the country exported 101 million 600 thousand pairs of shoes in 2007, with an average price of 18.63 euros.

As of 2007, the country had 2073 shoe making enterprises, a decrease of 9.4% compared to the same period last year, with 3 employees and 8.37% reduction.
