Actively carrying out research and development of common, key and forward-looking technologies in the industry, undertaking a number of key scientific and technological projects such as "973", "863", and scientific and technological support, tackling and breaking through a series of major technical problems, forming a number of technological innovation achievements with independent intellectual property rights and advanced world level, and being named as the first batch of innovative enterprises by the Ministry of science and technology, the State Council SASAC and the all China Federation of trade unions.

In 2006~2012, 3 achievements were awarded the two prize of national science and technology progress. 45 achievements were awarded the scientific and technological progress award of the Federation of textile industry, and 183 patents were granted. The invention patent of "a composite spinning component and its application for replacing sand cavity sleeve" was awarded the fourteenth China Patent Excellence Award with its high innovation and good application results.

In recent years, the China Textile Institute has focused on three major projects, namely, the development of new cellulosic cellulose fiber technology, the development of new generation of polyester fiber engineering technology, and the application of high tech fiber in the application of industrial textiles.
