In August 19th, the NDRC issued the announcement on the redistribution of import tariff quotas for agricultural products in 2008, and some imported cotton tariff quotas that had not been used will be redistributed.

According to the report, some end-users who held import tariff quotas for cotton in 2008 did not sign import contracts or signed import contracts in the same year. However, they were not expected to ship from the original port before the end of the year. They should return the unfinished or incomplete parts of the tariff quota to the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government before September 15th.

The national development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce will redistribute the quotas returned.

The final user who has exhausted the import tariff quotas, and the new users who have fulfilled the requirements listed in the regulations on the import and export tariff quotas for grain and cotton imports, the conditions for application and distribution in 2008, and the rules for the application and distribution of sugar import tariff quotas in 2008, but failed to apply for new import tariff quotas in 2008, can apply for the quota redistribution to the local development provinces and autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government in 1~15 September.
