< p > Australia is one of China's major cotton importers, but problems in its quarantine also exist.

At the port of Ningbo in 2012, a group of nine pests from Australia were intercepted at the site quarantine, including the three species of harmful organisms such as the red terpid, the beetle, the crickets, the family Coleoptera, the family pteroptera and so on. Among them, the class bark beetle (non Chinese species) was the first quarantine pest to be imported from the imported cotton for Ningbo port. It is a quarantine pest stipulated by the bilateral agreement on plant quarantine and plant protection. It is extremely difficult to prevent and harm. The adult has strong fecundity and can seriously damage fur, grain and woolen fabrics.

In August 2013, a group of cotton from Brisbane, Australia arrived at the Ningbo port. There were 15 containers in the consignment. According to the relevant regulations, the Ningbo inspection and Quarantine Bureau found that a female rat was found to be a rodent vector. The risk of carrying pathogenic organisms was higher. In order to prevent the spread of risk, the inspection and quarantine personnel carried out sanitary disposal of the goods according to the relevant regulations, and promptly informed the consignee, making the claim preparation in advance.

From 1 to October this year, 11 batches of imported cotton were detected by the Ningbo inspection and Quarantine Bureau, and 21 kinds of pests were detected in 31 times, while the batch of Australian imported cotton accounted for 54.5%.

In January 2013, the inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Ningbo found that the amount of the bill of lading for cotton was 299.872 tons, and it was confirmed that the actual landed weight of the batches of cotton was only 285.752 tons, 14.12 tons short of the bill of lading, and the short weight rate was 4.7%. The amount involved was 27 thousand US dollars. In recent years, the short weight of cotton imported from Ningbo port is so rare that it is rare in Ningbo.

On the other hand, due to the need for pformation, upgrading and development of domestic cotton enterprises, the trade pattern has been changed from general trade to feed processing, which has accelerated the import cotton trade flow, and has prompted foreign cotton traders to aim at China.
