In the coming year, Wenzhou shoe leather industry association will focus on helping industry enterprises to develop new markets and actively respond to the international financial crisis. There are about 2700 small and medium-sized enterprises in Wenzhou shoe leather industry, of which more than 670 enterprises are above designated size. In 2008, our association assisted the relevant departments in formulating the "ABC classification rules for leather shoes industry enterprises". According to the standards of enterprise product quality and management level, we classified the enterprises, focused on supporting A-type enterprises, and guided the development of B enterprises. The shoe leather industry in Wenzhou has a solid foundation, a relatively perfect industrial chain, a large number of large brands, and a strong ability to resist risks. According to the statistics of Wenzhou customs, as of November 2008, the total export value of footwear products in Wenzhou was 162 million US dollars, down 4.9% from the same period last year, but the average price per pair was 5.355 US dollars, up 16.44% compared to the same period last year. In 2009, the association will strive to do three things: first, vigorously promote technological innovation in industries and enterprises, and constantly promote transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. On the basis of China's shoes capital Park, we will continue to build the shoe leather industrial park, such as Ouhai Economic Development Zone, Yongjia Dongou Industrial Park, Ruian China leisure shoes base and so on, making it an important footwear manufacturing and export base. Second, establish a platform for trade with Russia. Russia is the second largest exporter of footwear products in Wenzhou. This year, the association will focus on building a green clearance channel under the guidance of relevant departments. Third, expand the market by holding various forms of exhibitions.
