The herdsmen in the northern Tibetan pastoral area always wear fur robes all the year round.

In general, men's fur robes are relatively simple to handle. The women's Tibetan robes are more complicated. They should be decorated with many large ribbons and decorated at the back. They are black, red, green, purple and so on. Most of them are five to seven, and some of them are full of leather.

Women in northern Tibet are also used to braiding their hair into numerous plaits. Because it is cold in the north of Tibet, it is difficult for people to wash and comb their hair several times in a year or so. They also wear pine stones, agate, coral and amber directly into their plaits, which are hard to see in agricultural areas and towns.
