According to Zhang Hongyan, director of the textile and garment inspection center of Wuhan Quality Inspection Institute, the unqualified items of clothing are mainly inconsistent with the fiber content. For example, there is a household clothing, indicating that the cotton content is 82%, while the measured cotton content is only 16%, the difference is too large. One of the clothes is named as 100% polyester fiber, while the measured polyester fiber is only 95%, and also contains 5% spandex, but it is not identified.

Some manufacturers bought the raw materials without identifying them and misled consumers.

Bedding, including quilt and pillowcase quilt, is not included in the sampling. Besides the fiber content and logo, it also includes the pH value exceeding standard, fading, and carcinogenic decomposable aromatic amine dyes.

Zhang Hongyan introduced that the human skin is weakly acidic, and the bedding products with pH exceeding the value of skin will be irritating. The carcinogenic decomposable aromatic amine dye is prohibited. The dyestuff is used by cloth producing enterprises or small workshops, mainly because of its low price and bright color, while the environmental protection material is several times more expensive than it is.

And how to identify it as a consumer? Zhang Hongyan reminds us that one is to buy in regular channels, pay attention to brands, do not trust too low price items; two, pay attention to choosing lighter and single clothes and bedding; three, buy items that need to be washed with water and make them use again.
