The textile industry is the largest source of foreign exchange earnings in Kampuchea, which has solved the employment problem of 700 thousand people, but the minimum wage standard in the industry is lower than that in Vietnam and other countries.

Since 2013, the government of Kampuchea has raised the minimum wage standard for textile workers to 128 US dollars for two times at the request of domestic labor organizations.

Since September 2015, after negotiations with the employers and ILO, the government of Kampuchea has decided to veto the initial wage requirement of the ILO for the minimum wage of $160 per month, but it has increased by $12 a month.

A statement issued by the Ministry of labour in Kampuchea said that textile workers would receive a minimum monthly income of $157 to $168 a month next year if wages were calculated beyond wages.
