Recently, Hong Kong Polytech University and Wuyi University have signed a cooperation framework agreement. Two universities will join hands to research and develop environmentally friendly textile materials in the next 3 years.

The reporter was informed that the cooperation was aimed at promoting the development and innovation of textile dyeing and finishing techniques by experts from two universities to solve the health and environmental problems caused by man-made fibers and their chemical processes.

In addition, due to the fact that textiles can easily become a hotbed for bacteria and microorganisms to grow and reproduce rapidly under suitable moisture, nutrient and temperature conditions, two universities will also study how to process additives and processing methods through innovative antibacterial fabrics to enhance antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal efficacy in textiles.

Wei Bingjiang, vice president of Hong Kong Polytech University, said at the signing ceremony that the above cooperation will help the two sides to develop the next generation of green and healthy textiles.

"We are very pleased to cooperate with Wuyi University. These platforms will accelerate the development of scientific research and industrialization of scientific research achievements in Guangdong, Hongkong and Macau."

Zhang Jie, Secretary of the Party committee of Wuyi University, said that the signing of the agreement is the starting point for cooperation between the two sides.

In the future, the scientific collaboration between the two universities is expected to expand to other disciplines and fields to help technological innovation in the big bay area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.
