Amazon Strengthens Logistics Control: Nearly Half Of Its Packages Are Delivered By Themselves.

Logistics is very important for e-commerce platform. According to the data submitted to Axios by Rakuten Intelligence, a market research firm, nearly half (47.6%) of Amazon's (1893.63, -10.65, -0.56%) packages are delivered by the company itself. In comparison, in January 2017, more than 60% of the packages were delivered to the US postal service, while Amazon accounted for less than 15% of its own delivery.

It is surprising that in recent years, the UPS and FedEx of the Amazon parcel express remained unchanged. What is more interesting is that the proportion of packages delivered through FedEx has never been more than 2%. But Amazon said in a statement to Axios that these figures do not accurately reflect shipments between Amazon and its partners.

Whether or not it is entirely correct, we can see that Amazon's control over express logistics has been increasing from these data. As Mark Rosenbaum, a professor at the University of South Carolina, stressed, "we are talking about a retailer that controls the whole process."
