In the 1-6 months of this year, imports of garments from India and Vietnam increased significantly, and imports to Kampuchea and Indonesia stagnated. Import prices rose sharply. The prices of most categories in China have declined and imports have not declined. This shows that the United States has a high degree of dependence on Chinese products no matter what tariffs are.

According to statistics from the US Department of Commerce, imports of clothing from Vietnam and India increased by 8.7% and 8.1% respectively over the 1-6 months of this year, while imports of Chinese clothing increased by 3.1% over the same period last year. The proportion of Kampuchea and Indonesia remained unchanged, with the former falling by 1% compared with the same period last year and the latter by only 1%.

In the 1-6 months of this year, the increase in clothing imports to India was due to an increase of 13% in imports of cotton garments and 3.5% in imports of chemical fiber garments. On the contrary, China's imports of cotton garments decreased by 3.7% compared with the same period last year, while chemical fiber clothing increased by 6%. Vietnam's imports of cotton and chemical fiber clothing have increased.

In the cotton trousers series, the US imports to China decreased by 13% compared to the same period last year, and the volume of imports to India increased by 13.7%. For men's children's woven fabrics, China's imports increased by 20%, while that of women's children's chemical fiber shirts still accounted for 41% of China's imports.

In the 1-6 months of this year, the average unit price of Chinese products dropped by 2.3%, while the price of other producing areas rose, of which Kampuchea rose by 9.3% and Bangladesh increased by 5.6%.
