Like market expectations, the United States imposed tariffs on Chinese products, which had a negative impact on the clothing import of the United States in September. In that month, US imports of Chinese clothing fell by 13.2% in volume, the largest decline since March (13.4%), and 18.2% by volume, a rare drop since the abolition of textile quotas. That month, the US import price of Chinese clothing fell by 5.8%.

 

In September, the number of clothing imports in the United States decreased by 4.3% compared with the same period last year, and the amount of imports decreased by 2.1%. The proportion of China's imports dropped to 45.2% from 49.8% a year ago, and the import volume decreased from 39.3% to 32.8%.

 

In September, the United States increased imports of clothing to Vietnam by 16.8% over the same period last year, while Kampuchea grew by 28.5%. Indonesia also took advantage of the profits. US imports of Bangladesh clothing fell by 3.5% over the same period last year. In the first three quarters of this year, only Vietnam has maintained growth.
