With the increasing incidence of cancer, how to improve the efficacy of existing drugs has become the goal of scientists. Recently, the reporter learned from Nantong University that Dr. Dai Jia Mu of the school has developed a drug delivery system with adriamycin loaded porous carbon nanofibers. The use of fabric materials as a drug carrier for chemo photothermal therapy is of great significance for improving the therapeutic effect of tumor. The research results have been published in the international authoritative journal "chemical engineering".

In recent years, chemo photothermal therapy has become a frontiers in the treatment of cancer. The photothermal therapy is used to slow the release of chemotherapeutic drugs and prolong the cycle of drugs. Under the action of photothermal agents, chemotherapeutic drugs can accelerate the release during photothermal therapy, resume normal release rate after photothermal arrest, and continuously carry out chemotherapy, thus achieving effective inhibition of tumor cells at a low concentration of chemotherapeutic drugs. This method can achieve the goal of targeted delivery by means of intratumoral injection, and is helpful to improve the therapeutic effect of tumor.

At present, carbon based photothermal reagents mainly include graphene and carbon nanotubes. However, the existing carbon based photo thermal reagents have harsh preparation conditions, high production costs and low production efficiency, which limit the treatment of tumor diseases.

The Dai Jiamu team used nonwoven technology to prepare porous carbon nanofibers with excellent hydrophilicity by electrospinning. The material is simple and relatively low in cost. On the one hand, it can be used as a photothermal reagent to convert light energy into heat energy. On the other hand, it can be used as an anti-tumor drug carrier. After the preparation of carbon nanofibers, the tumor was injected into the tumor site, and then irradiated by near infrared light. The local temperature was increased to kill tumor cells, and the drug release rate was speeded up. This research provides a new direction and possibility for the application of nano and textile materials in the field of biomedicine.
