Recently, the "2022 National Top Ten Cultural Relics Collection Restoration Project Promotion Activity" jointly sponsored by the China Cultural Relics Society and the China Cultural Relics Newspaper was finally evaluated, and the "Wuwei Mozuizi Han Tomb Unearthed Textiles Protection and Restoration" project selected by the Gansu Provincial Museum was selected as the national outstanding project. This is the first time that the textile cultural relics restoration project in Gansu Province has won a national honor.

According to the sponsor, the selection of the "National Top Ten Cultural Relics Collection Restoration Project" involves many categories of cultural relics, and there are not a few outstanding cases that closely combine modern technology with traditional technology and strongly support the innovation and development of cultural relics restoration and protection concepts and technologies. The competition is very fierce.

The 30 projects selected in the final evaluation, including 10 "2022 National Top Ten Cultural Relics Collection Restoration Projects" and 20 "2022 National Excellent Cultural Relics Collection Restoration Projects", are important achievements of cultural relics protection and restoration in recent years and represent the cutting-edge level of current cultural relics collection restoration.

There are 10 pieces (groups) of cultural relics in the "Protection and Restoration Project of Textiles Unearthed from the Han Tomb in Mozuizi, Wuwei, in Gansu Provincial Museum". Although the number of these cultural relics is small, the fabric is rich in variety and quality, including silk, brocade, silk, yarn and diagonal knitting; Various finishing processes, including gilding, embroidery and printing; The level of cultural relics is relatively high, including 1 piece (set) of Grade I, 5 pieces of Grade II and 4 pieces of Grade III; There is a large amount of information attached to cultural relics. Its weaving technology, finishing technology, decoration modeling, etc. are not only the objective reflection of the textile technology, textile culture and the pursuit of quality life of the literati and officialdom in the Hexi area of the Han Dynasty, but also the true portrayal of the social fashion, ideology, etc. at that time, with high cultural relics value.

Most of the surface colors of these textile cultural relics are well preserved. However, due to the age, complexity of burial environment and instability of preservation environment, the strength of cultural relics has gradually declined, and the fabric silk fibers have deteriorated to varying degrees, with rottenness, pollution, wrinkles, mutilation, cracking, micro biological damage (mildew), animal damage, fading, discoloration, gold foil shedding and other diseases occurring, Among them, corruption is the most serious.

The project team effectively suppressed the spread of the disease through a series of protective and restoration measures such as shape inference, removal of historical intervention, application of silk protein reinforcement technology, selection of crepe yarn backing materials, design and manufacture of supporting accessories and fittings, so that the repaired fabric has clear shape, clear texture, stable silk threads, coordinated color, improved overall firmness and enhanced viewing effect, The expected repair goal in the scheme design has been achieved.

In recent years, the protection and restoration of cultural relics has increasingly attracted the attention of the society. From rescue protection to both rescue protection and preventive protection, more attention has been paid to preventive protection. Cultural relics protection has also developed into sophisticated high-tech, gaining more scientific and technological empowerment, such as scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray, CT technology and other widely used.

The Gansu Provincial Museum Cultural Relics Protection and Restoration Project was selected into the "2022 National Excellent Cultural Relics Collection Restoration Project", which will provide cases for the new era of deep integration of Gansu cultural relics archaeology, protection and multi-disciplinary, and will further promote the improvement and development of Gansu in textile cultural relics protection and restoration technology, scientific research ability, project standard management and talent training.
