Recycling Economy Helps Polyester Fiber Rebound

2008/4/10 12:55:00 20

Recycling Economy Helps Polyester People Recover.

In the product and process design, the Japanese Imperial group has been trying to reduce the load on the environment and actively develop energy saving technology.

In the latest exhibition of new technologies in the international industry, its "polyester chemical recovery and regeneration technology" and "titanium catalyst technology" have come on the stage. This is only a small part of many of its green technologies.

Under the theme of environmental protection and energy saving, these technologies have played a positive role in the performance of Japanese polyester fibers.

At present, the loss of polyester fiber business of its fiber company has been reduced by half. Under the condition of rising raw material prices, this achievement is not easy.

The company said it will further digest the price rise of raw materials through recycling technology in the future.

It is reported that the textile company in the first half of 2007 achieved a profit of 100 million yen.

However, from the third quarter, the loss of 600 million yen was caused by the soaring price of ethylene glycol. In the first three quarters, there was a deficit of 500 million yen.

At present, this momentum has been reversed.

Since the 60s of last century, the emperor began to use chemical methods to recycle waste from factories.

In the late 90s, the use of "mechanical recycling technology" began from PET bottles to fiber production, and began to form its own original "ECOCIRCLE" technology, that is, recycling textiles from consumers to recycle.

At present, the technology of recycling from fiber to fiber has been produced in large scale in Songshan factory, Japan.

"ECOCIRCLE" is a closed loop regeneration system from fiber to fiber. The system takes chemical looping technology as the core. The DMT produced by this technology can reduce about 84% of energy and reduce CO2 emissions by about 77% compared with petroleum production DMT. The regeneration of 1 tons of DMT is equivalent to saving energy consumption of a family for one year.

Moreover, the imperial group has cooperated with more than 75 enterprises, covering shopping bags, office supplies, daily necessities, civil engineering materials and automotive textiles.

Today, vigorously promoting energy conservation, the promotion of this technology will be more significant.

Most of the traditional PET bottles are made of antimony and germanium based catalysts. Such catalysts can produce acetaldehyde in the process of PET bottle forming. In the process of high temperature filling of PET bottles, heavy metal antimony can be easily separated from PET and enter the liquid, thus causing harm to the human body.

In the process of high temperature dyeing of PTA fiber, antimony metal is also easy to separate, and the heavy metal pollution is caused by the discharge of printing and dyeing wastewater.

The fourth generation (G4) new catalyst containing phosphorus and titanium is completely free of heavy metal. The catalyst can make the surface of spinneret cleaner and improve the pparency of polyester products.

The technology can be effectively used in PET and DMT wire drawing system, making the surface of polyester film more smooth, and greatly reducing the production cost. In 2007, the output reached 2000 tons.

Since 1995, the sale of polyester fiber from waste PET bottles has been extended to clothing, bedding, indoor and kitchen supplies.

The company also developed a recycling method of waste PET bottles from DMT (terephthalic acid two methyl ester) and EG (ethylene glycol), crushing and dissolving the waste PET bottles in EG, degenerating PET by EG at boiling point temperature and 0.1Mpa pressure, generating BPA (BHET), filtering residues and additives through filtration, enabling BHET to react with methanol, generating the radicals and hydroxyl groups through the pesterification reaction at the boiling point temperature of methanol and the pressure of 0.1Mpa, then separating them by distillation, then refining them by recrystallization, purifying them by distillation, and recycling methanol.

The purity of the recovered DMT and EG is 99.99%, and the production cost is equal to that of the general DMT and EG methods.

DMT can be converted into pure TPA (terephthalic acid), which is used to make bottle grade PET resin.

The recycling technology of the fully recycled polyester fiber has created a new situation of environment-friendly polyester fiber. It has overcome a series of technical difficulties such as recovery, degradation, spinning and so on. The performance of regenerated fibers formed by decomposition, repolymerization, spinning and so on is not inferior to that of new fibers, and the purity is 99.9%.

The pesterification of terephthalic acid two methyl ester and ethylene glycol as raw material is more advantageous to the recovery of waste fiber than direct esterification. The production of polyester fiber by pesterification method has been increased by the enterprises of Diji fiber and Asahi chemical fiber.

The circulation device can generate about 10% of the raw materials used by the company to produce resins.
