The Abolition Of Multilateral Textile Agreements Is The Biggest Winner Of China'S India.

China and India will become the biggest winners after the global multilateral textiles agreement (MFA) is about to withdraw completely. China's textile and clothing exports increased by 18.4% in the first four months of this year, and India achieved a 28% increase in the first 3 months.

Pakistan is also one of the biggest beneficiaries. According to the data released by the Federal Statistical Bureau, exports of Palestinian textiles in the first four months of 2005 increased by an average of 22.1% over the same period last year.

However, the International Labour Organization (ILO) in the recently launched "report on the globalization of environmental textiles and clothing" after the conclusion of the multilateral textile agreement pointed out that the implementation of the MFA ban and the abolition of textile quotas were actually "mixed box". The abolition of the spinning did not take into account the labour and trade situation of many developing countries, which was a disastrous move for them.

As indicated in the report, in the first 3 months of 2005, textiles and clothing exported to the United States decreased by 25% compared with the same period last year under the "African Growth and Opportunity Act" (AGOA). 6000 of the 39 thousand textile workers in Kenya were unemployed, and half of them are now at risk of losing their jobs. The increasing competitiveness of Asian countries will cause more Latin American countries to lose the international textile market.

The impact of globalization of textiles on employment and economy can not be ignored.
