The newly released list of top 100 enterprises in Zhejiang shows that in the past 6 years, the number of textile and garment enterprises in the top 100 enterprises in the province has declined significantly.

Cheng Huifang, Dean of the school of economics and management of Zhejiang University of Technology, believes that the appreciation of the renminbi, the increase of the cost of raw materials and labor and other restrictive policies are the reasons for the decline of the textile and garment industry.

According to the survey data, from 2002 to 2007, the number of top 100 enterprises in textile and garment industries dropped from 16 in 02 years to 7 in 07 years, and the comparative advantage decreased significantly in the distribution of top 100 enterprises in Zhejiang.

The number of top 100 enterprises in housing construction and real estate industry increased from 4 in 02 years to 17 in 07 years.

Cheng Huifang pointed out that for example, the reduction of export tax rebate rate and the margin system of processing trade have made great pressure on the textile and clothing industry, leading to a decline in the textile and garment industry.

The rise in the number of top 100 enterprises in the housing and real estate sector indicates that Zhejiang's real estate industry has grown rapidly and developed in recent years.

The list of top 100 enterprises in Zhejiang is jointly scheduled and released by Zhejiang Federation of enterprises, Zhejiang Entrepreneurs Association and Zhejiang Industrial Economic Association.
