250 Thousand Olympic Volunteers Dress Is Made By Jiangsu Enterprises.
At the Beijing Olympic Games, 253 thousand sets of blue Olympic volunteer costumes were all made up by Jiangsu Redwood Clothing Co., Ltd., located in Changshu. The company is also the only garment manufacturer in Jiangsu province to participate in the production of Olympic apparel.
Yesterday, the head of redwood tree told reporters detailedly about the production process of these garments.
In July 4th, Jiangsu red cedar Clothing Co., Ltd. selected the sample of Beijing Olympic Games volunteer dress and won the bid in Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee's national invitation. At that moment, Liu Weijun, the head of the company, was excited and felt heavy. "According to the experience of producing garments for many years, our company first chose a fabric manufacturer in Shantou, Guangdong, which has been working together for many years. So, we call the color number to the fabric supplier by telephone, asking for proof. The other side immediately responded to the news that the product was quite demanding and hard to produce.
Olympic volunteer clothing has high requirements for environmental protection and color fastness. It must reach the level of four and exceed the national standard. It is difficult for general dyeing factories to dye the standard cloth. Helpless, Liu Wei Jun has found all these business cooperation units over the years, seeking help from all fabric suppliers. Finally, we decided to supply high quality cotton yarn from Zhangjiagang Huafang group. After that, we found eight printing and dyeing factories in Wuxi, Jiangyin and Changshu, and chose the fastest printing and dyeing fabrics that could meet the requirements.
Liu Weijun said: "on the 11 day, the factories took out cloth samples. First of all, we should see whether the color is consistent with the requirements of the Olympic Organizing Committee. The most important thing is the color fastness and chromatic aberration rate." In order to test whether the fabric dyeing process is qualified in a short time, the technical personnel of redwood tree used the most direct destructive test, poured 100 degrees hot water into the cup and put a certain amount of soap powder into it, then placed it in cloth to see if there was any color fading. After comparison, it was found that a textile dyeing and finishing plant named Lu Sheng in Changshu reached the standard. Until then, Liu Wei Jun was slightly relieved.
Whether it is the production of redwood trees, or the supply of cloth manufacturers, in order to make this batch of Olympic volunteers clothes, they have laid down their original activities and devoted themselves to production. They understand that this is a glorious and arduous task.
Sewing work began in July 13th. 72 students from the Vocational Education Center arrived at the redwood tree company on the same day under the guidance of their teachers. From 9 a.m. till 4:30 p.m., 7.5 hours of continuous work. Volunteers are responsible for trimming thread, cloth, folding clothes and packaging. In July 30th, 253 thousand blue Olympic volunteer costumes arrived in Beijing on schedule.
