Pakistan Garment Manufacturers And Exporters Association Seeks Export Tax Rebates For Textiles
In a statement, Bilal Mulla, chairman of the Pakistan garment garment manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), said in a statement that China announced that 13% of the tax rebates for textiles and other value-added products were implemented in August 1, 2008, while Pakistan's textile exporters were refused the same rebate or subsidy.
Bilal Mulla also said that the government did not give any concession to exporters and did not give any tax rebate. Instead, it brought additional burden to exporters because the exporters recently took up the price of natural gas, electricity and petroleum products. He asked the government to take some rescue measures to meet the fierce competition in the region.
