Shantou Garment Exports Showed An Upward Trend In The First Half Of The Year, An Increase Of 10.2% Over The Same Period Last Year.

When China's textile industry entered the industry's most difficult "life and death period" in the past ten years, recently, the clothing export of our city has been encouraging news: in the first half of this year, the export clothing and clothing accessories of Shantou enterprises were US $410 million, showing a trend of Contrarian growth, an increase of 10.2% over the same period last year, which is higher than the average level of the whole country and the whole province.

Among them, 80% exports in general trade mode, and maintained a significant increase, the growth rate as high as 13.8%, while in the same period in Guangdong Province, exports in general trade mode decreased by 47.1%.

Textile and clothing is Shantou's "first pillar industry".

At present, there are more than 20000 textile and clothing production and sales enterprises in the city, of which more than 100 are invested in tens of millions of yuan, and more than 10 of them are hundreds of millions of yuan, making Shantou one of the largest and most concentrated sweaters and underwear production bases in China.

In recent years, as the RMB appreciation, land and other resources and energy products prices have risen sharply, the cost of raw materials and labor in enterprises has increased dramatically, as well as the comprehensive reduction or abolition of export tax rebates and the merger of domestic and foreign enterprises income tax, the Shantou textile industry, which relies on low cost, low market price and low profits, has also had the "most difficult day", like many domestic garment enterprises.

Faced with the predicament, many garment enterprises in Shantou have withstood the pressure from inside and outside, and have developed diversified markets, and have made use of the EU's favorable opportunity to cancel the export quota of our clothing to increase the export of clothing to the EU.

Figures from customs showed that the export business of our enterprises in the first half of this year was 66 million 370 thousand US dollars, an increase of 1.6 times, accounting for 7% of the total value of garment exports in Shantou during the same period from 7% in the same period last year, replacing the United States as the second largest export market after Hongkong and contributing 107% to the growth of Shantou's clothing exports.

At the same time, private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises have maintained growth and become the leading force in export growth.

In the first half of this year, the private enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises in the first half of this year exported garments of US $190 million and US $180 million respectively, which increased by 15.4% and 10.4% respectively, accounting for 90.2% of the total. The total growth of garment exports in Shantou during the same period was 11.5 percentage points, which strongly supported the growth of garment export in Shantou in the first half of the year.

According to the insiders, as the state adjusts the export tax rebate rate of enterprises and the implementation of the foreign trade policy, the export tax rebate rate of some textiles and clothing has increased from 11% to 13% since the beginning of this month. This will lighten the export pressure of garment export enterprises to a certain extent, and help enterprises increase their exports.

Under the stimulation of this favorable policy, the growth of garment export in Shantou will enlarge in the second half of the year, showing a further growth trend.
