Faced with the co-existence of business difficulties and substantial increase in fiscal revenue, many members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress suggested that we should consider the policy of reducing taxes and letting profits at the right time, and increase support for small and medium-sized enterprises and individual businesses.

Yesterday, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress examined the reports of the State Council and the Audit Commission in Beijing.

Zheng Gongcheng, member of the committee, said that the growth rate of the finance can be moderation slowly, and timely introduction of some tax relief policies will be a necessary measure for the healthy development of the national economy and social progress.

He suggested that first, the threshold of personal income tax should be further improved as soon as possible.

Li Qianyuan, member of the committee, suggested improving the living environment of small and medium-sized enterprises. "SMEs are the important foundation of our national economy and the key to the breakout of the economy."

In addition to the above suggestions, Huang Zhiquan, member of the committee, also suggested that new loans should be invested more in earthquake relief, agriculture, small and medium enterprises, and the exploitation and production of scarce resource products in the country.

Wang Yingwei, deputy to the National People's Congress, who was invited to attend the meeting, suggested that the government should vigorously help enterprises develop the huge market in the Middle East, as the consumption market in the United States shrinks and the economy in Europe and Japan continues to slump.

Li Zupei, member of the Commission, said that in order to maintain steady and rapid economic development and expand domestic demand, it is particularly important to reduce the external demand and increase the number of uncertainties. It is suggested that the relevant government departments should take more effective measures to expand domestic demand.

He Yicheng, chairman of the Chinese manufacturers' Association and member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said that the biggest problem for foreign trade enterprises is the substantial appreciation of the renminbi in Macao.
