Processor Two Enemies July New Products
In July, there are two days worth writing in the history of processor development, namely July 11th and July 23rd.
AMD will release the LGA1207 specification processor slot in July 11th. Then, Intel will officially release the next generation architecture processor in July 23rd: Conroe, the official name is Core 2 Duo.
Conroe is the desktop version of the Core 2 Duo processor series. Intel has said that it will make Conroe occupy 40% of the company's desktop processor shipments in the first quarter of 07.
However, due to its excellent performance, Intel had tacitly allowed Conroe's test results to leak before this date.
Moreover, in order to reduce inventory as much as possible before listing Conroe, Intel plans to substantially reduce the Pentium D 8xx and 9xx processors in June 4th and July 23rd, two times.
The LGA1207 interface processor of AMD is the F version of Opetron processor, which has Santa Ana and Santa Rosa.
The former is actually a dual core AM2 processor, which is specially customized for workstations and 1U servers. Santa Rosa is a dual core Optreon processor.
AMD has no plans to produce a single core Socket F version of Operton, and the four core G version Opetron (codenamed Deerhound) will be available at least next year.
AMD the new 1207 pin processor slot, also known as Socket F, will be AMD's first processor socket using land-grid-array technology, which is similar to Intel's LGA775 and LGA771.
