The head of Yiwu Economic Development Bureau said that the enhancement of independent innovation ability has greatly improved the core competitiveness of Yiwu seamless knitting.

Relying on market development, Yiwu's manufacturing industry involves almost all commodity industries, and a number of advantageous industries such as knitting socks and clothing are "born in accordance with the city". Ten national industrial bases have been formed, including zipper, pen making, cosmetics, socks, clothing, handicrafts, and jewelry.

At the same time of the cluster development of manufacturing industry, enterprises' independent innovation ability is weak, the overall level of the industry is not high, and the core competitiveness is not strong. The data shows that the average proportion of R&D expenditure of enterprises in Yiwu City in sales revenue is less than 0.4%, and the total amount of technology development expenditure in Yiwu City ranks only 11 out of 14 economically strong counties. Independent innovation ability needs to be improved urgently.

In view of the current situation of weak independent innovation ability of enterprises, the Municipal Economic Development Bureau has formulated a directory of manufacturing industry guidance in Yiwu, transformed and upgraded traditional industries, vigorously encouraged and developed equipment manufacturing, accelerated the construction of enterprise technology centers, and guided enterprises to enhance their independent research and development capabilities.

At the beginning of May, the Municipal Economic Development Bureau has preliminarily completed the formulation of the industrial enterprise guidance directory, and the first draft of the Yiwu Industrial Industry Guidance Directory has also been distributed to enterprises for comments. The directory of industrial enterprises clearly points out that industries and projects that encourage development, allow development, restrict development, and prohibit or eliminate development can optimize resource allocation, promote enterprise innovation, guide enterprises to transfer to a benign investment direction, and ensure that the industry is scientific and reasonable.

Since this year, the Municipal Economic Development Bureau has actively guided enterprises to increase investment and focus on technological innovation. From January to June, a total of 91 technological transformation projects were filed in Yiwu, 2 provincial key technological innovation projects were declared by enterprises, 3 provincial technical barriers to trade projects, 1 provincial key high-tech project, 9 provincial new product projects, and 1 provincial informatization project. While actively guiding enterprises to apply for provincial technology centers, the Economic Development Bureau also carried out the construction of Yiwu municipal technology centers for the first time.
