Us Mexico Textile And Leather Organization: To Jointly Combat Customs Fraud

2008/8/2 0:00:00 47

At a meeting in Gastonia, North Carolina, the United States and Mexico textile industry agreed to cooperate in several fields to improve the competitiveness of the North American textile industry.

These areas of cooperation include combating the threat posed by China's subsidies, strengthening the implementation of customs and the construction of regional infrastructure.

AndersonWarlick, chairman of the NCTO, said the conference has taken an important step towards strengthening cooperation, which will ensure that the North American textile industry is still the employment channel for the about 2000000 regional workers.

All the provisions of the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR) began in August 15th. Obviously, the United States and Mexico textile workers will be closely integrated. DavidGarcia, President of the Mexico National Textile Industry Association (CANAINTEX), said: "we must unite to protect our common future."

The two organizations agreed that they will join forces with the US and Mexico government officials to crack down on fraudulent shipments into two markets.

NCTO President AndersonWarlick said: "Customs fraud still bothers two of our countries, especially the illegal use of Chinese yarn and cloth, claiming to be the origin of the North American Free Trade (NAFTA) and the Central American and Dominican free trade (CAFTA) countries.

Last year, NCTO voluntarily set up customs fraud reporting procedures, and we look forward to bringing our data together with Canaintex data.

The two organizations agreed that China is still a separatist force in the world textile market. Chinese enterprises receive unfair subsidies and pose the greatest threat to the competitiveness of the North American textile industry.

Mr.Warlick said that Chinese textile and garment workers employ more than the entire US manufacturing industry, and now the Chinese government provides huge subsidies. Therefore, as long as the trade restrictions are lifted, China will constitute a huge vengeful damage to the world's textile and clothing trade.

The two organizations called on the US government to extend the current textile surveillance program to China (TPM).

Mr.Garcia said that we are very willing to compete with Chinese companies, but we can not compete with the Chinese government.

We strongly urge the US government to supervise China's exports.

NCTO agreed with CANAINTEX. In the future, it will launch strategic cooperation with textile and garment enterprises in CAFTA and ANDEAN.
