Cocoon silk production ranks first in the world for 30 consecutive years, and its total industrial output value reached 167 billion yuan, and silk products exports amounted to 8 billion 900 million US dollars.

The silk industry has both economic, ecological, cultural and social benefits, and has made important contributions to farmers' enrichment, employment expansion, ecological protection and coordinated regional development.

At present, the Ministry of commerce is actively promoting the structural adjustment of cocoon and silk industry, promoting the continuous optimization of product and regional structure, and supporting and upgrading the overall development level of the industry with modern science and technology.
