Indonesia's New Clothing Import Trade Measures
Recently, Indonesia's newly released import trade measures involve clothing category products.
The Ministry of trade of Indonesia stipulates that in the next two years starting from December 5, 2008, imports of 5 categories of clothing, footwear, electronic products, children's toys and food and beverage must be handled by registered trade enterprises (registered importers) and customs clearance through international airports or 5 designated large seaports located in Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Mindanao and Makassar. The import must also be accompanied by the evidence of an import port.
The general importer may apply to the Ministry of trade for registration as an importer. Importers are required to report their import implementation to the Indonesian trade department every 3 months.
