French Textile Production Declined 20% In 09 January
According to the recent report of the French textile daily, information from the Federation of French textile industries in 2009 did not make a good start for the French textile and garment industry, and the output in January dropped by about 20%. Because of the difficulties of the automobile industry, the production of automobile fabric for textile main production activities dropped by 30% to 40%.
Reported that the situation of garment manufacturing industry is also not optimistic, production in all regions has been affected by the crisis, but the demand for consumption has not yet shrunk. Subscribers have wait-and-see attitude, small orders, unwilling to take risks.
There are 80 fashion enterprises in western France (Brittany and Sloan). They say orders are reduced by 50% compared with last year. The prospect is very worrying. Enterprises are in recession, employees are half unemployed and fired.
A noteworthy trend is that some fashion contractors are turning to new manufacturing areas, Italy and Tunisia. Many wholesale and brand dealers are reducing supplies and hoarding, and consumers may not be able to buy the products they want.
