On the morning of March 28th, the Central Cotton Storage Project in Dezhou, Shandong, held the foundation stone laying ceremony in the industrial park of Tian Qu in Decheng district. The project is expected to be completed in December this year.

In China, cotton is the only major agricultural product after grain and is also the most important raw material for the textile industry. The state attaches great importance to the construction of the cotton reserve facilities. The central reserve directly under the central bank is a key construction project specially designed by the state for the purpose of perfecting the cotton reserve management system.

According to the national development and Reform Commission's "plan for the construction of a cotton reserve bank under the central government", the first designated construction scale is to build 18 Central Cotton banks, with a new storage capacity of 800 thousand tons, with a total investment scale of 750 million yuan.

Since the first project in 1999, 16 projects have been approved by the national development and Reform Commission.

Dezhou's central cotton storage project covers an area of 244 mu, and has 16 warehouses, 31 thousand square meters and a storage capacity of 50 thousand tons.

The auxiliary storehouses are supporting the construction of auxiliary production and living facilities such as railway special lines, high platforms and railway covers. The total length of railway laying is 4 km, and the total investment of the project is RMB 110 million yuan, of which 75 million yuan is invested in the central budget.
