The American clothing and Footwear Association (AAFA) praised President Obama for signing the 2010 Haiti economic revitalization plan (HELP), making it a law.

The bill was proposed by Sander Levin, senior member of the fundraising committee, senior member Dave Camp, congressman Charles Rangel, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee Max Baucus, and senior member Chuck Grassley in April 28, 2010.

"The law signed last night by President Obama opened a door for reconstruction after the devastating earthquake in Haiti four months ago," said Burke, President and chief executive of the association.

"As the garment industry is very important in the overall reconstruction of Haiti, it is necessary to extend and expand the preferential treatment of the garment industry in Haiti, which will bring the necessary certainty and predictability for the re employment.

We look forward to working with the Congress and the government to further support the reconstruction of the people of Haiti.

"

In 2010, the HELP law extended the Haiti hemisphere opportunity law to 2020 by the Caribbean trade partners Act (CBTPA) and 2006 (HOPE law) and 2008 (HOPE II) partners.

After signing the law, the tariff preferences of some knitted and woven garments will be increased.

In the work of assisting Haiti's reconstruction, this law will create a predictable environment for the clothing and textile industry of the United States.
