Retail sales rose slightly in August, but the uncertainty of the British government's unprecedented fiscal slash plan made consumers reluctant to buy household goods in large quantities.
Data released by BRC British Retail Consortium on Tuesday (September 7th) showed that the overall retail sales in the UK increased by 2.8% in August and 2.6% in July.
In August, the same store retail sales grew by an annual rate of 1%, an increase of 0.5% in July.
After the summer vacation, primary and secondary school students return to campus. The demand for clothing, coupled with the weather changes caused by seasonal changes, has promoted the demand for clothing, shoes and caps, and thus promoted the overall growth of non food retail sales.
