Cotton production is expected to be raised to 34 million bales in the near future, larger than the 32 million 500 thousand package forecast by the Ministry of agriculture earlier.

Commerce Minister Rahul Khullar said it is possible to increase exports.

Dhiren Sheth, President of India Cotton Association, said that cotton production last year was 29 million 500 thousand packs, weighing 170 kilos a packet.

The industry forecasts that cotton output is even as high as 34 million 750 thousand bales.

He said, we believe that the export line may be further increased by 200-250 packages.

After the sharp rise in domestic prices, textile manufacturers suffered heavy losses, so the government banned cotton exports in April.

Due to the expected increase in production, the government carefully decided in September to export 5 million 500 thousand bales of cotton.

The export licence issued by the Commissioner of textiles in November 1st is valid for 45 days.

The minister said that the government decided to export 5 million 500 thousand bales of cotton according to the forecast of output of 32 million 500 thousand bags.

Now the output forecast has been raised, and the number of exports available will also increase.
