British Fashion Companies Paulsmith Profits Rose Sharply

The company's annual profits rose sharply due to strong sales at home and abroad.
By the year June 30th, the company's pre tax profit rose 18% to 20 million 900 thousand pounds.
Mr. PaulSmith, the owner and founder of the company, said he was very pleased with the company's achievements in such a severe economic environment.
Total sales increased 2% to 152 million 830 thousand pounds, but wholesale sales declined.
At present, the company has 15 stores and department stores in the UK.
PaulSmith said: "we will continue to grow our total sales, pfer wholesale sales to retail sales, increase new stores and increase sales and sales.
Besides Japanese market is more difficult, our customer loyalty is still better.
In 2006, PaulSmith sold 40% of its shares to Itou Tada, Japan, but remained in a controlling position.
