The technical regulation EN 14682:2007 will be used as a reference standard for the sale of children's clothing with strings and belts in the European Union market. It will also replace EN 14682:2004 and coordinate the requirements of all European Union members' domestic children's garments.
The standard EN 14682-2007 set by the European Union stipulates the girdle or ropes for children under 14 years of age, including rope (cord), chain belt (chain), ribbon (ribbon), string (string), narrow strip (tape) and plastic rope.
It is reported that after the introduction of EN 14682:2007, resolution 2 also elaborated and replaced EN 14682:2004. The European Commission did not immediately announce the standard in the official communiqu.
Between August 2008 and February 2010, the European Forum on product safety implementation (PROSAFE) had worked with 11 EU member states in accordance with third and fourth provisions on the market.

The survey found that almost 1/10 of the products do not meet the requirements of EN 14682:2007 standard.
In the sample, more than 70% of the products were clothing for infants or young children.
The European Commission said that the unqualified products in the survey accounted for a large proportion of the RAPEX notices. On this basis, the European Commission decided to issue EN 14682:2007 as a reference standard for better coordination.
