The main reason for the increase in cotton production in Hebei this year is mainly the planting area.

This year, the actual sowing area of cotton in the whole province is 9 million 346 thousand mu, an increase of 744 thousand mu over the previous year, an increase of 8.6%.

Affected by the increase in cotton prices in 2005 and the increase in cotton farmers' income, cotton growers have expected the cotton production revenue this year, and cotton planting area has resumed growth.

According to survey statistics, cotton prices climbed all the way in 2005, an increase of 14.9% over 2004, and the net income of Mu reached 778.54 yuan, an increase of 109.56 yuan over the previous year's 668.98 yuan, an increase of 16.4%, much higher than that of 215.7 yuan of wheat and 167.6 yuan of corn's net income.

During the growth period of cotton this year, most of the regions have sufficient light and abundant rainfall. The temperature, light and water conditions meet the cotton growth needs. Cotton is generally growing well. In addition, this year, manpower and material input are relatively large. Most of them are covered by plastic film, and insect resistant cotton varieties are selected. Meanwhile, field management and pest control are strengthened. These measures have effectively promoted the increase of cotton yield.
