In order to convey the relevant standard requirements for Chinese children's clothing to China's garment enterprises in a timely manner, regulate China's export of American children's clothing to the United States.

The seminar was sponsored by the CPSC, the China Apparel Association and the China textile industry association testing center. Patricia Bittner, director of CPSC project in China, and Denis Blasius, the head of the field investigation office, attended the meeting.

At the meeting, CPSC related personnel made detailed introduction to the children's wear rope, small parts requirements, children's flammability, lead content limit and general test requirements, and the standard of American children's wear was higher than previous years.

According to Ms. Tate, the United States has tighter standards for children's clothing since this year.

All children's wear is not allowed to have a pull rope. Children's wear must be accompanied by permanent traceability labels. Children's clothing produced by manufacturers and importers must be tested by a CPSC accredited laboratory for third parties.

For children's accessories except fabric and buttons, laboratory tests should also be conducted by CPSC accredited laboratories.

The standards for flammability of children's clothing must conform to the requirements of the United States Code of laws for flammability of all garments, but for children.

There are special requirements for higher standards.

In view of the limitation of lead content in children's clothing and general testing, this year has made great changes.

It is reported that from August 14, 2011, the maximum lead content of children's clothing can be reduced to 100ppm from the previous 300ppm, and all children's garments must be tested and certified for lead content since December 31st of this year.

According to the director of Hughes, the United States has greatly improved the penalties for civil penalties for unqualified children's clothing and the ceiling of accumulated penalties.
