Canada Announces The Entry Into Force Of Consumer Goods Safety Law

The Canadian Ministry of Health announced that the consumer product safety act of Canada came into effect on June 20th.

This law will replace the old version of decrees that have lasted for 40 years to better protect Canadian nationals from the risk of unsafe products.

The Canadian health minister said that the government is now in power.

The consumer product safety act of Canada aims to solve and prevent the risks posed by consumer products and better protect the health of the people. The act emphasizes that the consumer goods industry should take the responsibility to ensure that consumer goods with safety risks will not be brought to the market.

It is learnt that the new Canadian Consumer Product Safety Act contains the following contents: requiring the industry to report serious accidents or defects to the Ministry of health in Canada, requiring enterprises to keep relevant files, help track products in the entire supply chain, introduce the safety obligations of consumer goods, and prohibit manufacturing, importing, advertising or selling anything that does not meet the requirements of CCPSA regulations.

Products, if dangerous goods are found, should be improved in a timely and effective manner, including allowing the recall of the Ministry of health in Canada; making consumer or packaging fraudulent or fraudulent health or safety declarations is an offence; increasing penalties and increasing fines for violation cases; requiring manufacturers or importers to provide test / research results for related products when necessary; and the need to submit test reports in the new EU Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC), which will take effect in July 20, 2011.
