Wolfram Engel, a textile engineer who was born in Germany, worked in Bangladesh for 16 years. He invented the new technology with four local colleagues.

The new technology is currently being optimized using salt free dyeing.
This only takes 50% of the existing process.
The new technology can take 2-3 hours to replace 8-10 hours of normal process.
Engel said that the local fabric manufacturers now need 80 liters of water to dye one kilogram of cloth.
This amount of water rapidly depletes groundwater resources.
The new technology can dye 1000 kilograms of cloth and save 20 liters of water.
Engel said the new technology will also be sold to other garment manufacturers including India, China and Taiwan, China.
