According to the mandatory inspection system, the textile and apparel products of Taiwan textile industry must comply with the CNS 15290 "textile safety specification (General requirements)" standard. CNS 15290 main testing items include free formaldehyde, azo dyes, lead content, cadmium content, organotin compounds, constituent analysis and physical safety items. At the same time, component labeling, washing marks and origin should be attached to commodities.

Once the product is passed compulsory inspection, it will be accompanied by a commodity inspection label, which can be attached to products, tag or other packaging materials.

In addition, Taiwan inspection department prohibits retailers from selling textiles without inspection labels.

The mandatory inspection system is more stringent on textile requirements, and is more in line with the requirements of the United States, the European Union and other countries. Its implementation will greatly enhance the technical threshold for textiles exported to Taiwan.

Textile and clothing products are one of the main commodities exported to Taiwan by the mainland. Especially since the implementation of the early harvest plan of the economic cooperation framework agreement (ECFA) on January 1, 2011, the export of textiles and clothing from mainland to Taiwan has increased significantly.
