According to the latest data released by the Department of Commerce and textiles of the US Department of Commerce, the share of Chinese textiles in the US market was 40.53% in the first half of April this year, and the market share of clothing in the United States was 34.24%, ranking first.

But it is worth noting that in the first quarter of this year, the number of textiles and clothing imported by the United States decreased by 1.68% and 7.74% compared with the same period last year. Meanwhile, India's exports to the United States increased by 8.26%.

The industry believes that China's textile and garment exports to the United States market is being grabbed by India, Vietnam and other countries.

Chinese manufacturers raise prices to scare away American businessmen

According to the data released by the General Administration of customs, China exported $6 billion 373 million to us textiles and clothing in 1~4 months this year, an increase of only 0.2% over the same period last year, far below the overall growth rate of 15.32% of China's exports during the same period.

At the Canton Fair in April this year, the head of a textile enterprise in Shanghai told reporters: "we were forced to raise the price by 10%, and many American businessmen were scared away."

The slowdown in China's export growth to the US has benefited other competing textile producing countries, such as India, Vietnam and Indonesia.

In the first quarter of this year, India exported 8.26% of its textile products to the United States.

Chinese enterprises can take the opportunity to enter the India market.

Ma Xinzheng, deputy editor in chief of the first textile network, believes that China is not as good as India in terms of the output of raw materials (cotton), the low cost of employment, or the exchange rate.

In addition, 1~2 data showed that Vietnam's exports of textiles to the United States increased by 43%, and Bangladesh increased by 7.5%.

Ma Xinzheng also said that instead of competing for export share with India in the process of losing large quantities of orders, it is better to shift export priorities to India and other countries and regions with higher population base and consumption power while consolidating the European and American markets.
