Rescue efforts in the disaster area are running against the clock, and donations from Hong Kong people are endless.

The famous businessmen Li Jiacheng and Li Zhaoji yesterday donated 100 million yuan and HK dollars respectively to help Sichuan rebuild after the disaster.

Among them, the Li Jiacheng foundation and the Yangtze River and yellow group once donated 100 million yuan. The special education fund will be set up to assist students in the major, middle and primary schools affected by the earthquake in Sichuan to subsidize their living expenses and tuition fees for further study in the future.

While Li Zhaoji donated 100 million yuan from private funds, it was mainly used for medical emergency, assistance for orphans and widows, food donations, temporary accommodation and post disaster reconstruction schools.

In addition, all walks of life in Hongkong continue to contribute to disaster relief in Sichuan earthquake stricken areas.

In the latest donation announced by the Li Jiacheng foundation yesterday, the Li Jiacheng foundation will donate 40 million yuan, while the Yangtze River and the Yellow River group will each have 30 million yuan. The relevant funds will be co ordinating by the Ministry of education and the details of supporting cooperation.

Li Jiacheng said that he could not help feeling sad when he saw the plight of the victims.

If they were interested in providing support to the disaster area, they could contact the Yan an hospital, and Li Zhaoji would be responsible for air tickets, accommodation and related expenses to the disaster area.

China gas is also purchasing large quantities of relief supplies and pported by 12 teams of Hong Kong and China. All the expenses are paid by the fund.

In addition, Hongkong construction (Holdings) Limited and Hongkong new energy (Holdings) Limited yesterday donated 5 million yuan to relieve the victims.

Liu Luanhong, managing director of Li Fu International Group, donated 3 million 880 thousand yuan on behalf of Hongkong SOGO Department store.

The two donations were accepted by Zheng Kunsheng, deputy director of the joint office of China and Li Guikang.

Lining fund and staff donated 12 million 490 thousand

The Li Ning Co Ltd, founded by Lining, a former gymnast prince, joined the Lining foundation and the staff to donate 12 million 490 thousand yuan to the affected areas.

Donations have been sent to the China Charity Federation and China Poverty Alleviation foundation.

The Federation of trade unions (FTU) raised Street donations in the past weekend and Sunday, raising over $3 million. The donation will be pferred to the Red Cross Society of China for disaster relief through the joint office.

The staff and volunteers of Hongkong Huixian think tank, under the guidance of Ye Liushuyi, President of the Council, donated money to the public in various areas of Hong Kong Island the day before yesterday, raising a total of 1 million 410 thousand yuan, which will be donated to the Hongkong red cross within days.
