Domestic Cotton Prices Rise And India'S Cotton Imports Doubled
According to a senior member of a trading company in India, the increase in cotton prices in India will lead to nearly two times of cotton imports this year (beginning in October).
According to statistics from India Cotton Advisory Committee, the cotton import volume of India last year was 650 thousand packs (110 thousand and 500 tons). ShirishShah (BhaidasCursondas&Co., a shareholder in Mumbai and chairman of India Cotton Association) said: "the import volume of India textile mill this year should be 100-150 million packages (17-25.5 tons), especially the extra long staple cotton, which will increase with the increase of domestic cotton prices."
