According to customs statistics, in the 1-2 month of this year, China's export of textiles and garments (including textile yarn fabrics and products, clothing and accessories) was 21 billion 900 million US dollars, down 14.5% from the same period last year.

The main characteristics of its exports are as follows:

First, the export volume dropped sharply in February, a record low since February 2006.

In the month of February, China exported $6 billion 670 million of textile and apparel, down 35.1% from the same period last year, down 56.2% from the same month, and export volume hit a new low since February 2006.

Two, general trade exports accounted for more than 7, processing trade declined significantly.

In the 1-2 month of this year, China exported 15 billion 570 million dollars and 14.7% of textile and clothing in general trade mode, accounting for 71.1% of the total textile exports in the same period. In the same period, the export volume of processing trade was 4 billion 800 million US dollars, down 17.5%.

Three, the export of private enterprises has declined slightly and state-owned enterprises have fallen sharply.

In the 1-2 months of this year, China's private enterprises exported textile and apparel 9 billion 220 million US dollars, down 5.9%, accounting for 42.1%. During the same period, foreign investment enterprises exported 7 billion 420 million US dollars, down 13.6%, accounting for 33.9%; and the state-owned enterprises exported 4 billion 110 million US dollars, down 26.9%.

Four, the European Union, the United States and Japan are still the main export markets.

In the 1-2 month of this year, China exported 5 billion 100 million and 3 billion 250 million US dollars to the European Union and the United States respectively, 14.7% and 6% respectively; Japan exported 2 billion 980 million US dollars, an increase of 1%, accounting for 51.7% of the total 3 market exports.

Five, clothing and accessories export decline is smaller.

In the 1-2 month of this year, China's export garments and accessories were reduced by 11%, accounting for 66.7%, and the export of textile yarn, fabrics and articles 7 billion 280 million US dollars, down 20.6%, with a drop of more than 9.6 percentage points of clothing and accessories.

In order to boost the confidence of textile and garment enterprises, the State Council deliberated and passed the "textile industry adjustment and revitalization plan" in February 4th this year, and further raised the textile export tax rebate rate to 15%.

However, the sharp decline in external demand has made textile and apparel exports difficult.

With the deepening of the impact of the international financial crisis on the real economy, trade protectionism in Europe and the United States is likely to rise again. After the abolition of quota in early 2008, China and Europe will be replaced by bilateral monitoring.

At the same time, despite the end of the Sino US textile agreement since January 1, 2009, the contradiction still exists.

In addition, compared with the RMB exchange rate, the currencies of some Southeast Asian countries continue to weaken, causing retailers in major European and American export markets to turn to Southeast Asian countries, which has a greater threat to the share of China's export market.
