Thailand Footwear Industry Shifts To EU Market
According to Thailand World Daily reported on April 7th, Thailand Industrial Institute footwear industry group chairman Ming Pan said that the impact of the global economic crisis, the export volume of footwear in Thailand fell sharply, especially the major exporters of footwear in Thailand, the United States and other orders greatly reduced. The footwear industry in Thailand must develop new export markets, such as the European Union, instead of traditional markets.
Ming Pan said that the number of footwear exported from Thailand to the United States continued to decline, from 35% of the total production to 27%, but the volume of shoes exported to EU countries increased to 40% of total production.
Thailand enterprises have upgraded their footwear grades from the underlying market to intermediate or advanced markets, focusing on product quality and market competitiveness. It is reported that the footwear industry in Thailand now has 50-60 large factories and 90 thousand workers.
