Industrial News said that the Malaysia government assured us orally that the 19 categories of products might enter the Malaysia market without tax, but only after the start of the free trade agreement negotiations.

Last week, the Bangladesh mission delegation visited Kuala Lumpur and read a directive to the Ministry of foreign affairs of Malaysia. Malaysia officials hoped that they would be assessed ahead of time to initiate negotiations on free trade agreements between the two countries as early as possible.

According to industrial information, two months later, Dhaka began to engage in consultations on the 19 categories of products irrelevant tax entering Malaysia market in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh's main exports to Malaysia include: ceramics, jute products, knitted garments, woven garments, leather goods and so on.

In the 2008-09 fiscal year, Bangladesh exported $31 million 280 thousand to Malaysia and imported 694 million dollars from Malaysia.

At present, Malaysia has signed a free trade agreement with Sri Lanka and Pakistan among Asian countries.
