Textile and clothing are the traditional bulk export commodities of Shunde's foreign trade.

Yesterday, from the Foshan customs office in Shunde, it was learned that from 1 to May this year, Shunde exported 310 million dollars of textile and clothing, an increase of 9.2% over the same period last year, but lower than the 7.4 growth rate of Shunde's overall foreign trade growth over the same period.

It is reported that the textile quota restrictions have been gradually abolished. From 1 to May, Shunde's textile and apparel exports rebounded strongly to the EU and the US, with export value of US $72 million 710 thousand and US $37 million 280 thousand respectively.

But there is a sharp decline in exports to other major markets.

For example, before May, the export value of textiles and clothing to ASEAN and Latin America was 12 million 350 thousand US dollars and 8 million 980 thousand US dollars respectively, down 33.9% and 13.7% respectively.

According to the head of the Foshan customs office in Shunde, it is mainly due to the fact that in recent years India, Vietnam, Kampuchea and Bangladesh have all taken the textile and garment industry as an important supporting industry, which has a stronger labor cost advantage than China and has accelerated the relocation of some textile and garment enterprises. On the other hand, the state has also encouraged the labor-intensive industries to pfer gradely to the central and western regions. Guangdong has encouraged the labour intensive industries in the Pearl River Delta to move to Guangdong, Guangdong, Guangdong, and North Guangdong, and all of them have formed competitive pressure on the export of Shunde's textile and clothing.

In addition, the state has further reduced the export tax rebate rate, improved the threshold of processing trade, increased the intensity of environmental protection and energy conservation, as well as the continuous appreciation of RMB and the rising cost of raw materials and labor, and so on, which has also increased the pressure of Shunde textile and garment enterprises.
